Number 1

I found this one by way of Colin.

You Are the Reformer
1

You're a responsible person - with a clear sense of right and wrong.

High standards are important to you, and you do everything to meet them.

You are your own worst critic, feeling ashamed if you're not perfect.

You have the highest integrity, and people expect you to be fair.
What Number Are You?

Our Red-State Comrades

Ever since Tuesday's controversial presidential election, those of us who live in the blue states (New York, specifically) have been hearing about the ignorance, backwardness, stupidity, etc of people who live in the red states. Even though I now live in a blue state, having grown up in a red state, I am more than a little bothered by the broad generalizations being made about the states that went for George W. Bush in this election. To be sure, Bush did get a majority of the popular vote and a majority (or at least a plurality) of the votes in all of those states marked as red. However, to look at list of red states and say that "those people" have some type of malfunction is to ignore the fact that both ignornace and enlightenment are spread throughout the country.

This map (courtesy of a Princeton professor) shows a county-by-county breakdown of how people voted. Most of the country, even the so-called blue states, is fairly purple. The trend in voting appears to be based more on population density (heavily urbanized areas are more blue-ish), regardless of the particular state. And many of those red states have heavily urbanized areas that are quite blue. So let's not blame the red states for the awful result of Tuesday's election; let's place the blame where it really lies. On country-ass mother f*ckers! They're ruining us! We have to smoke 'em out, for the good of our country! Smoke 'em out!!!!!!

The Forgotten Votes

In all the hubub surrounding the presidential and congressional elections, a few other votes were quietly moved out of the public eye. These were not votes on candidates for any office; they were human rights votes. And, I'm sad to say, too many voters took the inhuman path. Calling all Americans; put on your walking shoes - we're taking another step backward.

. . . or die

Like many other bloggers out there, I'm writing the requisite election-day entry. No one really knows how today's election will turn out. Maybe Bush will stay in the Whitehouse, maybe Kerry will go. Maybe Ralph Nader will pull a surprising upset and carry Florida. Maybe Osama Bin Laden will make an appearance on the Tonight Show and reveal that he was only kidding. Maybe it will be reavealed that Pat Robertson is really a homosexual. And that Jesse Helms is his lover. Maybe Al Roker will lose 40 lbs. And Jared from Subway. I can't be certain of any of these. But I do know that I voted. I had my say. Did you?
