Road Warrior

You know, they weren't kidding when they said I'd be traveling more. Since switching to my new group at work on August 1st, I've been to Minneapolis twice and will be returning for a third time on Tuesday morning. While I hate only being able to see Colin 2 or 3 days out of the week, I actually enjoy the traveling. There's something about whisking away on a jet on short notice, spending the week in a georgeous hotel, and then throwing down the corporate card that just makes you feel kinda important. Not that any of this is going to my head, mind you. While I like it right now, I'm sure that the novelty of it all will wear off soon enough.

Speaking of work, as a sort of bonding activity, the members of my client team (4 twenty-somethings) took me to my first straight club last Thursday . . . which I was later thrown out of. Now, before you pass judgement, let me just say that I'm not sure exactly why I was thrown out (I'm sure I'll find out on Tuesday when I see my team again, and I'll probably never hear the end of it). Everything after the third vodka drink (on an empty stomach, mind you) is a blur. However, I do remember yelling drunkenly about how I was being discriminated against . . . because I'm gay. Although thinking back on it, half of the people in the so-called straight club either were or looked far gayer than me, so that probably wasn't it. The mostly likely case is that I fell asleep and the bouncers (rightly) thought I was drunk. It seems people are far touchier about drunkeness outside of the gay bars.

In any event, things are going well for now. Colin and I spent a great day at Jones Beach with some friends on Saturday, and will be attending the Brooklyn carnival today. I'll try to take some pictures and post them here. Take it easy, folks.
