> An exhibitionist's offering for voyeurs of the naked mind<

It was Iowa . . .

But this week I AM in Florida. Orlando to be specific. The company was nice enough to choose a sunny locale for training this time. Of course, the subject matter is fairly dull, but my coworkers did manage to keep it exciting by setting a fire in the hotel early Monday morning. The building didn't burn down and none one got hurt (damn!), but the internal balconies of about 7 rooms went up in flames, filling the massive atrium with smoke and robbing me of three hours of much-needed sleep. Way to go team.

In other news, after several false starts, I've finally gotten into a good rythm on my first, but hopefully not last, novel. Yes, I know, everybody wants to write a novel these days. What distinguishes me from the hundreds of thousands of other coffee-addicted writers, sitting in Starbucks, composing witty dialogue for their even wittier characters who are both deep and shallow, ugly yet beautiful, funny yet serious? Simple. I sleep with an editor :-)

That's about all for the moment. Hopefully with busy season over, and a little less work-related traveling on my schedule, my life will get a little more interesting. Till then. . .

Red-Stating It

As I sit here in the only state (other than Hawaii) completely bordered on both the east and west by water (figure that one out), I'm reminded a lot of home. Granted, it's not as diverse as North Carolina, but it has its own special charm, especially since this time we're staying in a college town. There are a few nice restaurants, a handful of museums, and even some local sports entertainment. For all its charm, however, I can't wait to get back to New York.

Brooklyn, I'll see you tonight.

. . .

As I look over this old site, I can't help but think about this whole blogging phenomenon. I now have, with a few brief interruptions, a two-year chronicle of my life. Admittedly, there have been times when my posts were far less than an exhibition of the naked mind. But when I look back at old posts, I still see myself, and it makes me smile. :-) So here I am again. I've returned before, only to disappear a few posts later, but maybe this time I'm back for good. Only time will tell. This time, however, I won't make any promises. . . I'll just write . . . and see what happens. Hopefully, you'll come back from time to time to read a little bit, and see what's going on in Shockster's mind.
